Are token buybacks really effective? Only 2 projects are up since they kicked off their buyback programs: @HyperliquidX | $HYPE: +152% @aave | $AAVE: +94% @SkyEcosystem | $SKY: -7% @ethena_labs | $ENA: -10% @ether_fi | $ETHFI: -34% @pumpdotfun | $PUMP: -35% @AerodromeFi | $AERO: -36% @JupiterExchange | $JUP: -58% @RaydiumProtocol | $RAY: -60% What's your opinion, are they effective?
Only 2 tokens are up since their buyback programs started - $HYPE and $AAVE $HYPE surged 152% since HL Assistance Fund started active buybacks. It's also one of the reasons HYPE held strong during the recent turbulence. $AAVE is another solid example of successful buyback implementation, showing 94% growth since April. Several tokens from this spotlight showed great performance at one point, driven by the impact of buybacks, but have fallen since. Most of them are still recovering from the Oct 11 market crash. $PUMP +48% (at its highest since buybacks began) $ENA +65% $AERO +20% $SKY +53% Meanwhile, $JUP, $RAY, and $ETHFI keep falling despite ongoing buyback programs. Btw, Jupiter announced it’s giving the token a fresh start, with more focused votings, a shorter unstaking period (30d → 7d), and a potential burn of ~121M $JUP, pending DAO approval. Buybacks don’t work for every token. If the token’s value doesn’t match the project’s real goals, buybacks can turn into a money pit. So if a project consistently generates revenue, there are probably better ways to reinvest that money. For example, into product growth, scaling, ecosystem expansion. What's your opinion?
